The 50 Percent Storytelling Fellowship

The Storytelling Fellowship by The 50 Percent is a free, 10-week online fellowship for young people who want to strengthen their communication, storytelling and advocacy skills.

Rather than treating storytelling as something you simply study, the programme combines guided discussions, mentorship and peer engagement with hands-on creative work. Fellows explore personal narrative, identity, systems thinking and social impact, before moving into practical multimedia storytelling.

What you will work on

Across four phases, participants move from foundations and active listening into narrative and identity, storytelling craft, and public impact.

The practical component includes creating:

• a short-form video

• a blog post

• a social media carousel

• two final stories in a format of your choice

The programme also includes training in mobile filming, editing and social-media strategy, alongside a peer-led teaching component.
